When I was an associate, I didn’t have access to queer or BIPOC supervisors. I had to navigate supervision, licensing, and early clinical work without guidance that reflected my identity, values, or the communities I served.When I got licensed and started my private practice, it took off fast — I was full in six months! But the calls didn’t stop. People were still reaching out, looking specifically for a therapist who held the identities I hold. And I didn’t have anywhere to refer them — everyone I knew who did this work was full too.

So I decided, when it was time, I would offer supervision myself — not just to help with hours, but to create a space where queer and BIPOC therapists could receive mentorship rooted in a worldview that matched theirs. A place where clinical and business skills could develop side by side. A place where future private practice owners could learn what I had to figure out on my own.

Since 2019, we’ve launched 11 private practices through this program. Each one reflects the strength and uniqueness of the person who built it.

Professional liability insurance, EHR access, payroll, and admin support are all included. You don’t need to know it all — we’ve got you.

We Hire: AMFTs, ASWs, APCCs and Psych Interns

If you want to build a client centered practice and are passionate about serving queer and BIPOC communities form a liberatory, decolonial and justice based perspective.... we got you

We prioritize the mental health needs of queer and BIPOC clients, offering services from queer and BIPOC providers or allies who are committed to deep justice for these communities as well

8 client minimum within 6 months of being hired

Reality Check on Pay

We are not a large organization and have to cover our overhead costs, so we are not able to negotiate our rates. Most of our associates have a full time job and work with Doorways part time until they are ready to launch and the build towards full-time
